Public Open House in San Ramon
January 30, 2014, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Bay Area Infrastructure Financing Authority (BAIFA) is working closely with Caltrans to convert the existing HOV lanes on I-680 into express lanes from Rudgear Road to Alcosta Blvd. in the southbound direction and from Alcosta Blvd. to Livorna Road in the northbound direction. Express lanes make the best use of HOV lane capacity, provide a more reliable travel option, and better manage lanes to keep traffic moving.
Express lanes Like existing HOV lanes, express lanes are FREE for carpools, vanpools, buses and other eligible vehicles. Express lanes allow solo drivers to use the lanes for a toll.
What's Involved Converting the existing HOV lanes into express lanes will involve installing tolling equipment (electronic toll tag readers) and signage as well as enhanced CHP enforcement capabilities. This would result in 23 express lane miles through San Ramon, Danville, Alamo and southern Walnut Creek. No freeway widening would occur as part of this project.
Open House BAIFA invites you to attend an informational meeting to learn more. At the meeting you will be able to review project plans and information, talk with project team members and provide input about the project.
OnLine Public MEETING Can't make the January 30 meeting? BAIFA is also hosting an online public meetingthat will begin January 30 and be open for two weeks, closing February 13. The online format will allow the public to view the same information that will be shown at the public meeting and provide input during the two-week period. Once on the project website, click the link to view the information.
