A new school year is just around the corner. You can help low-income youth in Contra Costa County to feel confident on their first day of class. When you donate to Monument Crisis Center, we will provide new, fully stocked backpacks to low-income children in grades 1-12 at no cost to their families. Here are just a few of our student stories from the hundreds who were helped last year: • Minna and Nadia were the first students in line to pick out their new backpacks last August. This marked their twelfth year in a row participating in our giveaway day! “Monument Crisis Center has been part of my childhood. I’ve been here most of my life,” said Minna. • Middle schooler Jesse recently moved to the area with his family. All his life, he had been given his older brother’s hand-me-downs. He was overwhelmed with gratitude to have the chance to pick out his own brand-new backpack. • Twelve-year-old Sophia skipped the fun designs and sought out the sturdiest JanSport backpack she could find. That’s because she stuffs it to overflowing with her favorite art supplies and takes every opportunity she gets to sketch, paint, and create. Free school supplies may seem like a small thing. But they help the low-income children in our community to dream big dreams.
